This template illustrates how you can integrate PNG imagery to create really interesting effects and designs right in Excel. The central image is an illustration with a transparent background and a soft drop shadow. The rest of the elements are real charts and metrics that are linked back to a data sheet in the workbook.
In general I suggest using these as a design reference file first and foremost. Your data is likely not going to be in this exact structure, so you will probably need to do a fair amount of customization on your own.
